Follow Friday #2: Best Books That Don't Belong To Genres You Usually Read

This post will be linked to Feature & Follow, a weekly blog hop hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read.

I hope I'm not too late for the blog hop! Something came up yesterday and I couldn't post this in time :( But here I am again!

The rules:
To join the Feature & Follow blog hop, what you need to do is follow Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read, who are the two awesome hosts; and the two featured blogs on their sites (chosen by random). For this week, they are Kinx's Book Nook and Shelf Addiction.
Then you create a post (like this one), where friends from the blog hop can comment and say hi, link your blog on the Linky Tools (you can do this on the two host sites, or any blogs on the hop that links to it).
After that, you follow, follow, and follow any blogs you feel like! Don't forget to comment and let them know you are a new follower!

And here is this week's question:

Q: When you step out of your USUAL genre what do you like to read? Best books in that genre?

A: Wow! This is hard, as I usually try to be eclectic and read almost every genre! But let's say my USUAL genre is fantasy, dystopian, science-fiction and the likes, then when I want to shake things up a bit (and get my head down from magical worlds) I would go for a nice YA contemporary. Especially those that deal with current social issues - I just have a thing for them! My favorite (and also first) book in that genre is Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. I read it in one sitting, and the only way to describe it is that it's an emotional roller-coaster.

What genre do you like to read out of your comfort zone? Share in the comments below!

And if you've followed me, don't forget to leave a comment so I can return the favor!

  2. I'm also a complete fantasy/sci-fi person, though I haven't tried a lot of contemporary stuff yet (except for the Jodi Picoult books a while back). I'll have to try Thirteen Reasons Why!

    I'm a new follower :D Here's my blog: http://www.onstarshipsanddragonwings.com/2012/10/21/feature-follow-friday-1/

    1. Yay! Another fantasy/sci-fi fan! Yup, I used to think I would never get into contemporary until Thirteen Reasons Why came along!
